Maple Avenue Pediatrics

Welcome to our office!  We are a small group practice that is committed to offering the highest quality medical care for your children.  Our office offers a warm and friendly environment where we can become partners in your goal of maintaining a happy and healthy family.

We are board certified pediatricians, trained in newborn, pediatric, and adolescent medicine.  We are on staff at The Valley Hospital in Ridgewood, New Jersey and Hackensack University Medical Center in Hackensack, New Jersey.  Our small size allows you to get to know all the doctors in the office, and we invite you to do so.  We do not cross cover with any other physicians and we do not use a nighttime triage nurse. One of our doctors is always available 24/7 in case of emergencies.

Flu vaccine update - September 12th - WE HAVE FLU MIST!!!!

*** YOU CAN NOW CALL TO BOOK FLU MIST APPOINTMENTS!!!! - FluMist is approved for children ages 2 and up who have no underlying medical problems. Please call now to book - if you are part of the patient portal you may book online! Yesterday, the representatives from Sanofi (our flu provider) arrived in the office to tell us that ALL shipments of flu vaccine will be delayed. One of the strains took longer than expected to grow to be included in the vaccine. We have been assured to receive shipments starting in mid October. We only have a small amount of flu vaccine and FluMist available now. We will be using the small amount we have for chronically ill kids and physicals in the office. We will have PLENTY of the quadrivalent flu in time for flu season. We will work overtime to provide convenient times to get the flu vaccine once it arrives (evenings and weekends). We are sorry for this inconvenience.

New Jersey Family Favorite Kids' Docs

Dr. Yellin, Dr. Cremin, Dr. Greaney and Dr. Lewis were all selected by the readers of New Jersey Family Magazine as one of their Favorite Kids' Docs! We thank all of you that voted for us and we are humbled by this honor!

Spring/Summer Hours

Our spring/summer hours have started - we will be open one day each weekend. This weekend, we will be open on Sunday, September 13th and closed on Saturday, September 12th. We are always available via the answering service for any emergencies!

Lactation Counselor

We have great news to report. One of our nurses, Diana Pree, has just received her certification as a Lactation Counselor. She is available to help with any and all lactation concerns in our office. We also offer breastfeeding moms, the opportunity to schedule a one hour consult with her to discuss your lactation concerns one on one. We hope this will be an asset to all of our patients!

Travel consultations

These travel consultations are not covered by insurance and will cost $100. We will research the country that you are traveling to and determine if the following are needed:

  • additional vaccines
  • malaria prophylaxis
  • treatment for traveler’s diarrhea

If the typhoid vaccine is needed this will be an additional $100 that is also not covered by insurance. At the time you schedule your appointment, please make sure that you make us aware of the country you are traveling to and provide us with documentation of any vaccines previously received at a travel clinic.

Immunization: Gardasil for Boys and Girls aged 12 and up

We recommend this vaccine for all children ages 12 and up. The vaccine provides protection against the 4 subtypes of Human Papillomavirus (HPV) with the largest disease burden. HPV can cause cervical cancer, genital warts, oral cancer, anal cancer, and penile cancer. It is a 3 dose series in which the second dose is given 2 months after the first dose and the third dose is given six months after the first one. We can start this series at your child's physical or you can schedule a nurse's time to begin the series!

Immunization: Adacel booster

We are now offering the Adacel booster (Tdap – Tetanus, diphtheria, and pertussis) to all parents and grandparents under the age of 65 in our office. The cost will be $65 and will not be covered by insurance. This vaccine is especially important to protect our babies from getting pertussis (whooping cough)!

Scheduling

The schedule is now open through November 7th. Now is the time to call and book your summer physicals!

Patient Portal

We now have electronic medical records which have a patient portal attached to them. With this patient portal you can access your child's medical records and growth charts, e-mail the physician or nurse, and schedule appointments at any hour of the day. We will also have flu shot appointments available to book online in the fall. There are lots of great benefits to the system.

E-prescribing

We can now e-prescribe all of your prescriptions to your pharmacy including mail order pharmacies. No more waiting in line with your screaming child to pick up your prescription!

Skin tag and wart treatment

We now have a new device called Cryosolutions which contains nitrous oxide that can be used to treat skin tags and warts. Please call us to make appointments for these conditions.
